This Privacy Policy explains what information FreshFilings (at tryfreshfilings.com) collects, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the law firms and attorneys who use the Service ("subscribers" and "visitors"). It does not apply to the debtors named in public court records — see Section 3.
FreshFilings is a data and workflow service that compiles public consumer bankruptcy filings from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California and organizes them by territory zone for subscriber law firms. For privacy questions, contact us at support@sacredcowstudios.com (Section 13).
Account information. When your firm creates an account we collect the firm name, contact name, email address, and a password (stored only as a salted cryptographic hash — we cannot read it). We collect this to create and secure your account and to communicate with you about it.
Subscription and billing information. Your zone and plan selections, coupon codes used, subscription status and dates, and payment status. Card payments are collected and processed by Stripe; your full card number goes to Stripe and never touches our servers.
Tracker data you enter. The follow-up statuses and private notes you record against filings, and feedback you submit through the Service. We store this so your tracker works the way you left it, across sessions and devices signed into your account.
Messages you send us. If you use the contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, and message, so we can reply.
Technical information. Like most web services, our servers record basic technical data with each request — IP address, date and time, and the page or action requested — used for security, abuse prevention (including contact-form spam controls), and operating the Service.
The bankruptcy filings shown in the Service — debtor names, mailing addresses as they appear in court records, chapter, case numbers, filing dates, and attorney-of-record information — are public records of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California. They are reproduced from public sources; they are not information we collect from subscribers, and the debtors are not users of the Service. We do not purchase, append, or provide debtor telephone numbers or email addresses, and we do not build consumer profiles from filing records.
We use the information in Section 2 only to operate and improve the Service: authenticating accounts, delivering your zones' filings, preserving your tracker data, processing subscriptions and payments, preventing abuse, responding to your messages, and understanding in aggregate how the Service is used (for example, which features firms rely on) so we can improve it. We do not use subscriber information for any other purpose.
We use one cookie: a session cookie that keeps you signed in. It is essential to the Service, is set only when you log in, and carries no advertising or cross-site tracking. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics beacons, or third-party trackers.
We share subscriber information only as needed to run the Service: with our cloud hosting provider (which stores the Service's database) and with Stripe (which processes payments). These providers process data on our behalf for the purposes described here. We may also disclose information where required by law, court order, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of FreshFilings, our subscribers, or others. If the Service is ever sold or reorganized, subscriber information may transfer with it, subject to this Policy.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. This statement covers account and contact information of subscribers and visitors. (Filing records are public court records, addressed in Section 3.)
Account, subscription, and tracker data is retained while your account is open and for a reasonable period afterward — so that, for example, a firm whose trial lapses can return to its preserved leads and notes — and is then deleted or de-identified. Contact messages and feedback are retained as part of our business records. Technical logs are retained for a short period and then discarded. You may ask us to delete your account data at any time (Section 10); we will honor the request subject to records we must keep by law.
Passwords are stored as salted hashes, connections to the Service are encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and access to subscriber data is restricted to the account that created it and to authorized administration. No system is perfectly secure, but we apply reasonable administrative and technical safeguards proportionate to the data we hold.
You may review and update your account information in the Service, export your tracker data at any time using the built-in CSV export, and cancel subscriptions from your billing page. You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account information. California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA — including the rights to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights; Section 7 describes our no-sale practice. To make a request, email support@sacredcowstudios.com; we will verify the request against your account and respond as required by applicable law.
The Service is offered to law firms and legal professionals. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
We may update this Policy from time to time. The current version is posted on this page with its effective date. Material changes will be noted on this page, and continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance.
